Steve Morgan is a contemporary singer-songwriter who writes and performs acoustic alternative-folk music. He is currently residing in the northern UK city of Lancaster, although he is planning to move back to his hometown of Cardiff before the end of 2008.

With his first performance at an open mic night in Leicester in 2004, Steve has been performing for a number of years and now has over sixty gigs under his belt (and over one hundred performances if open mic nights are included), ranging from venues all over the UK, including Cardiff, Newport, Leicester, Lancaster, Preston, Nuneaton, Leamington Spa and the Isle of Bute.

The backing band was formed by chance when a drummer offered his services, followed by a bassist and then a saxophonist. The line-up has gone through a couple of changes since then and now features bass, keyboard, drums, percussion and the occasional flute. Unfortunately, if the move to Cardiff goes ahead, the current line-up of the band will dissolve, but Steve has every interest in forming another backing band upon his return to Wales.

Steve's debut release was the Bad River EP, five tracks that featured a plethora of Leicester-based musicians. Released in March 2006, it received positive criticism and high praise:

"Bad River is a breath of fresh air… This really is an EP for everyone… Highly recommended" (SCAN - Lancaster University Newspaper)

"I have no hesitation whatsoever in giving this a 100% rating" (Jukebox)

"Bad River is a collection of songs that showcase Steve Morgan as a name to watch closely in future" (UKmusicsearch)

Two years on, Steve's second release is entitled Calmer Than Karma EP, this time featuring members of his Lancaster-based backing band. It includes three brand new songs as well as two live recordings from one of Steve's solo performances in 2007. Release date: Monday 16th June 2008.
